Starburst Theatre School are pleased to present their production of Lionel Bart's Oliver Jr at the Waterfront Studio, Belfast, 19 June 2022.
Starburst Theatre School is an all-abilities theatre school based in Antrim and Lisburn where Saturday classes consist of lessons in Drama, Dance, Singing and Stageworks.
The show will begin with a pre-show sketch written by Drama teacher, Sherryn Mulligan. and performed by their youngest group ‘The Oranges’ with some help from older children.
Oliver Jr is adapted from the Musical ‘Oliver’ by Lionel Bart which is based on the Charles Dickens’ novel ‘Oliver Twist’.
Set in Victorian England, Oliver, who is a young orphan boy, is removed from a workhouse after asking for more gruel.
After escaping from the undertaker he is sold to, Oliver finds himself accepted by The Artful Dodger and becomes a member of Fagin’s gang, full of pick- pocketing young boys. Caught on his first job, Oliver is taken in by Mr. Brownlow. Act Two begins in the lively Three Cripples Pub where Bill Sikes and Nancy are tasked with retrieving Oliver and bringing him back to Fagin’s gang threatening Oliver’s chance to find his real family.
