Part of the Fleadh 2026, Ómós na nUltach present a musical jounrey at Ulster Hall on 04 August 2026!
As part of the All Ireland Programme, Ómós na n-Ultach comes to the Ulster Hall in a powerful and uplifting celebration of Ulster’s music, history and cultural identity. This evocative suite of Irish traditional music was commissioned by Comhairle Chúige Uladh, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, and premiered to great acclaim at Fleadh Uladh 2022 in Dromore, Co. Tyrone.
Composed by the renowned Micheal Rooney - composer, harpist and concertina player from Scotstown, Co. Monaghan, the suite will be performed by the Ulster Youth Folk Orchestra, alongside guest musicians from across the province of Ulster. Together, they take audiences on a rich musical journey through Ulster’s history and culture, reflecting key moments and themes including the beauty of the landscape, the arrival of St Patrick, the Flight of the Earls, and the enduring reality of emigration.
Each piece within the suite represents a different facet of Ulster life, grounded in its historical context. The performance is enhanced with narration and visual imagery, creating an immersive experience that is accessible and engaging for families, deeply resonant for traditional music lovers, and inspiring for Irish language learners at all stages.
Those who attended the première at Fleadh Uladh described it as “an excellent reflection of the traditional music, culture and history of Ulster - a show that has something for everyone.”
A night not to be missed, celebrating a living cultural tradition in the heart of Belfast.
