A Belfast couple are set to celebrate their wedding in one of the city’s most iconic venues after winning a once-in-a-lifetime competition to host their big day at Ulster Hall.
Colleen and Fionnbharr will celebrate their big day on 24 July 2026. The couple, who share two children together, have been engaged for some time, and winning the competition has now turned their long-held dream into a reality.
Speaking about their win, Colleen said the experience feels “completely surreal,” adding that the opportunity to celebrate in such a meaningful Belfast landmark makes the occasion even more special for their family.
Located in the heart of the city, Ulster Hall has played host to generations of world-class performers including Led Zeppelin, Arctic Monkeys and Dermot Kennedy. Now, the venue is entering a new chapter, opening its doors to wedding receptions for summer 2026.
To mark the launch, the venue team introduced the ‘Win Your Wedding Reception’ competition, offering one couple the chance to celebrate their special day in a space synonymous with Belfast’s cultural and musical heritage.
Rob McConnell, Chief Executive ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall said:
“Ulster Hall has been the backdrop to so many unforgettable moments over the years – the kind where people say, ‘I was there when…’. Now, for Colleen and Fionnbharr, it becomes part of their own story.
“Their journey really stayed with us, and being able to give them a day they might not otherwise have had feels incredibly special. It’s not just a wedding – it’s a moment they’ll carry with them forever, in a place that means so much to Belfast.”
With limited dates available across June, July and August 2026, demand for wedding receptions at Ulster Hall is expected to be high. The venue offers a distinctive backdrop for couples seeking a reception filled with character, history and atmosphere in one of Belfast’s most recognisable buildings.
For Colleen and Fionnbharr, the countdown is now officially on – with a wedding day that promises not only to celebrate their love story, but also to become part of Belfast’s.
