Kerry Rooney MBE spent Culture Night Belfast calling the shots. This year he’s the one on the mic. The writer, actor and director — Culture Night Director for Belfast in 2017 and 2018 — returns on Friday 18 September as a performer, bringing songs from his musical Pride and Prejudice and 80’s Hits! to Waterfront Hall, Cityside Foyer Cityside Foyer from 5.45pm - 6.30pm before heading to Writers Square with cast from the show.
It’s a neat full-circle Belfast story: the person who once ran the walkie-talkies for the city’s big culture night stepping into the square as one of the acts.
The show
Pride and Prejudice and 80’s Hits! mixes Jane Austen with 1980s pop — written and directed by Rooney. After a strong spring debut, the full production lands at the Waterfront Hall Studio from Thursday 05 to Saturday 07 November.
