A few weeks ago, Ulster Hall was shaking once again as The Answer delivered a powerful, sold-out celebration of Led Zeppelin’s iconic 1971 Belfast performance, marking the first instalment of the venue’s new heritage-inspired series, The Legacy Sessions.
In a fun twist, a fan on social media pointed out that the show happened almost 20,000 days after the original Led Zeppelin concert, adding even more significance to an already special night. More than five decades after Stairway to Heaven was performed live for the very first time inside Ulster Hall, The Answer returned to honour that historic moment.
Speaking after the show, Peter McKevitt, Head of Entertainment at Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall, said:
“This is exactly what The Legacy Sessions were created for, to celebrate the heritage, the stories and the unforgettable moments that give these venues their soul.
The Answer exceeded all expectations this evening and it was incredible to hear and see a packed Ulster Hall on its feet at the end of the night. We are looking forward to announcing further gigs as part of our Legacy series to celebrate more great acts which feature as part of the venue’s colourful musical history.”
The night was filled with excitement and nostalgia, especially for local fan Colin Doonan, who also attended the original 1971 Led Zeppelin show. Colin, who famously caught a harmonica from the band that night, returned to Ulster Hall to relive a piece of that legendary experience, adding a personal and emotional touch to the event. From The String Ninjas’ dynamic warm-up to The Answer’s electrifying performance, the evening showcased the music, memories, and community spirit that make Belfast’s heritage so extraordinary.
Watch this space as more concerts as part of the Legacy Sessions are on the way, bringing Belfast’s most iconic musical moments back to life.
